Seeking Community's New Community Animator

We are delighted to welcome Christie Nash to the Tamarack team as the new Community Animator of www.seekingcommunity.ca where her energy and focus is on deepening community connections and collaborative efforts among neighbours.

Community engagement and striving for social justice have been strong threads throughout Christie’s personal and professional life.  An active volunteer with a number of community organizations, Christie has worked in the non-profit sector for almost ten years.  She has a strong understanding of the intersection between the governance and practice of building healthy, inclusive, and hopeful communities.  She is deeply committed to the notion that when people work together they can overcome complex issues and that diversity is our greatest strength.  She understands that community conversations must be multi-faceted, dynamic, and that building relationships takes time.

Christie first began working in partnership with Tamarack when she was the Coordinator of the Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network where she helped facilitate a coordinated approach to the delivery of services for those living in poverty in the Peterborough region.  She holds an M.Ed from Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto where she focused her research on youth participation in democratic processes, peace building, social justice and environmental education.

Christie very much looks forward to connecting with the members of Seeking Community and she welcomes you to contact her (christie@tamarackcommunity.ca) with questions, thoughts, and ideas.
