Week 2: A Concert in the Park

Peterborough is my home town; it's where I grew up and though I now live in Waterloo, Peterborough still feels more like "home" for me. Each summer, there is the Festival of Lights. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings, thousands of people from my community bring their lawn chairs to Del Crary Park and listen to some great music. The best part? It's totally free! This allows for a great range of ages and stages to come- nobody is excluded. You always see at least a dozen people you know.

In this photo, it was the most highly attended concert ever- there were over 15,000 people! Who had drawn such a crowd, you ask? Carly Rae Jepson, of course. (She sings, "call me maybe," you've likely heard it on the radio many times). Though I had reserved Carly Rae to be a singer for pre-teens (and we were surrounded by them!), I found myself singing and dancing to her music, none-the-less. It was a fun night- a great way to have fun as a community.

How do you have fun with your community?
