Seeking Community: A Thousand Conversations to Shape our Future

Seeking Community: A Thousand Conversations to Shape our Future, is a research and knowledge sharing campaign about community that depends on the work of awesome people like you to take part in a conversation about community and to write about what you hear.

Not sure of how to do this.  Follow the following two simple steps.

Step 1: Have a conversation about community

The first step is to have a conversation with someone about community.  This can be your housemates, your family, your colleagues, your yoga group or just a random group of people who you share a train car with.  Community is a very broad topic and there are many angles you can approach it from.  If you are not sure where to start you can use some of the following questions and then just let it grow organically from there.

What does community mean to you?

What is a memorable experience of community that you have had and what made it so memorable?

What are the challenges you see in your community?

What are the opportunities you see in your community?

What have you done to build community in your life so far?

What ideas, dreams or visions do you have for building community moving forward?

Step 2: Writing the Blog post

So now you have had your conversation it is time to blog about it.  To do this, reflect on the conversation you just had.

What was said that really stood out for you?  Why did it stand out?

What was a new idea or perspective that you heard?

What was something that seemed to resonate with everyone?

What common patterns came out?

Feel free to also add personal anecdotes to your reflection.

This reflection can be short only 350 words (like this one) or it can be much longer.

Most importantly have fun.

When you are done, why not have another conversation and see if there is any difference from your first one.  Let us know what you learned.
