To build a home - part two

Neighbourhood build starting to take shape

Our neighbourhood continues to buzz with the flurry of construction activity as building of the Habitat for Humanity home takes shape in my backyard. Work has gone from a big hole in the ground to a foundation that will support a home in a matter of weeks, and while my work on the project has yet to begin, we have been photographing the progress of the build to date. Crews of volunteers have been out in full force, surprising me each day with how much work can get done in such a short period of time. Oh, the power of many hands all working together!

A strong foundation

Amy- thanks so much for these images and for the update!

In building a physical foundation- the part that will give sturdiness and structure to the entire building, I think it acts as a beautiful metaphor for the foundation and relationship that the community is building in this time. As we come to know our neighbours and care for them with intentionality, we set the structure for the rest of be build on top... deeper connectedness, friendship, support and love. How neat!

Looking forward to future updates!
